God’s word today:
“Now FAITH IS the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things NOT SEEN. For by it the elders obtained a GOOD TESTIMONY. By faith WE UNDERSTAND that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”
(Hebrews 11:1-3 NKJV)
Hebrews 11:1–3 introduces one of the clearest biblical descriptions of faith. Faith is not merely positive thinking. Biblical faith is trusting God and His Word even when we cannot yet see the outcome.
This does not mean faith is irrational or blind.
Biblical Faith says:
“I cannot see everything, but I KNOW THE ONE WHO SEES EVERYTHING.”
* Abraham had a word of promise BEFORE he saw the birth of his son.
* Noah had a word of God’s warning BEFORE he saw the rain.
And Hebrews says:
“By faith the elders obtained a good testimony.”
What gave them a good testimony?
Not that Abraham’s lives and Noah’s lives were perfect. They had weaknesses, struggles, waiting seasons, and difficult circumstances. But they trusted God and acted upon that trust.
There are seasons when we pray but don’t yet see the answer. We obey but don’t immediately see the result. We believe God’s promise, but circumstances seem to say the opposite.
That is where faith becomes real.
Faith says, “God is faithful even when I cannot see what He is doing.”
Therefore, don’t let what we see become greater than what God has spoken.
We may not understand everything. But we can trust the One who does.
We may not see the way. But we can trust the One who knows the way.
We may not see the answer. But we can trust the One who sees and holds our future.
Prayer
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus, may you teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. When I cannot see what You are doing, help me trust who You are. Give me faith to hold firmly to Your promises, patience to wait for Your timing, and courage to obey Your Word. May my life become a good testimony—not because everything is easy, but because I continue to trust You in every circumstance, even during the difficult times.
