God’s word today:
“Therefore, when HE CAME INTO THE WORLD, He said:
“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
but a body You prepared for Me;
with burnt offerings and sin offerings
You were not pleased.
Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about Me in the scroll— I have come TO DO YOUR WILL, My God.’”
(Hebrews 10:5–7)
The statement “when He came into the world” points to the reality that Christ truly became human. The eternal Son of God entered this world and took upon Himself human nature. John 1:14 confirms this:
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.”
When Jesus called God the Father “My God,” we see His humility in taking upon Himself human nature.
This gives us great comfort: because Jesus took on a human body, He understands what it is like to live as a human being.
* He knows what it feels like to be tired.
* He knows what it feels like to suffer.
* He knows what it feels like to face pressure.
* He knows what it feels like to surrender His own will to the will of His heavenly Father.
Jesus came into the world to do the will of His heavenly Father—this is the heart of Christ.
What about us?
Without realizing it, do we sometimes come to God carrying our own agenda?
“Lord, bless my plans.”
“Lord, open the door I want.”
“Lord, change this situation according to my desire.”
But when today we can say,
“Lord, I do not understand the situation I am facing, but I choose to do Your will,”
Thus, we are following in the footsteps of Christ.
Reflection:
Am I asking God to follow my will, or am I learning to surrender my will to God?
Perhaps there is something you have been praying about—your work, family, ministry, future, or an important decision. We can bring everything to God. But ultimately, our prayer must reach the same place as Jesus’ prayer:
“Father, not My will, but Yours be done.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, teach us to have the heart of Christ—a heart that is obedient, humble, and willing to surrender our own desires to Your will. When we do not understand Your ways, give us the faith to keep trusting You. When obedience is difficult, give us the strength to continue choosing and doing Your will.
