😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“THE LAW IS ONLY A SHADOW of the good things that are coming—NOT THE REALITIES themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. Otherwise, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins. It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”
(Hebrews 10:1-4 NIV)
The Law in Old Testament “as shadow” were not meaningless, for God Himself commanded them. But the Law were pictures pointing toward Christ.
* Animal sacrifices → pointed to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
* The high priest → pointed to Jesus, our perfect High Priest.
* The earthly tabernacle → pointed to God’s greater heavenly reality.
* Repeated sacrifices → pointed toward the once-for-all sacrifice of Christ.
“Don’t Live in the Shadow When You Have the Reality”
Carefully and be wise for sometimes a person can live his or her Christian life as though Jesus is still only a promise.
*We know about forgiveness, but we continue carrying yesterday’s guilt.
*We know about grace, but we keep trying to earn God’s acceptance.
*We know Jesus has finished His the works on the cross, but our hearts still live as though we must somehow finish it ourselves.
So today, don’t put your hope in religious performance, human effort, or your ability to make yourself worthy. Put your confidence in Jesus and His finished work on the cross.
When your past accuses you, look to Jesus.
When your weakness discourages you, look to Jesus.
When you feel unworthy to approach God, look to Jesus.
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I believe and thank You that You are truly the reality and the fulfillment of God’s salvation, not a shadow.
O Lord, grant me grace to live daily in the reality of Your finish works on the cross. Amen.”
Bless you
