Daily Bread: Anchored in the Hope That Never Fails

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the UNCHANGING nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, HE CONFIRMED IT WITH AN OATH. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where JESUS HAS ENTERED ON OUR BEHALF AS OUR FORERUNNER. He has become a High Priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
(Hebrews 6:16–20)

Placing our hope in the economy, our health, our job, or even in people is ultimately fragile, because when these things are shaken, our hearts are easily shaken as well.

But the Bible teaches that the believer’s hope is different. Our hope rests on two foundations that never change:
* God’s promise, and
* God’s oath.
Because God cannot lie, every one of His promises will surely be fulfilled in His perfect timing.

That is why our hope in Christ is described as “an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” An anchor does not stop the wind or calm the raging waves, but IT KEEPS THE SHIP FROM DRIFTING AWAY. In the same way, faith in Christ does not always remove our problems or life’s hardships, but it keeps our hearts steadfast in the midst of life’s storms.

If you are facing a storm in your life today, do not anchor your heart to circumstances that constantly change. Anchor your hope in Christ. The God who has made His promise—and even confirmed it with an oath by Himself—is the God who cannot lie. Therefore, you can hold firmly to Him, because the hope we have in Christ is strong, secure, and never disappoints (Romans 5:5).

Prayer:
Blessed am I who believe even before I see the fulfillment of God’s promises. For I believe that Jesus has entered as our Forerunner, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. Amen.
