😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“For it is IMPOSSIBLE in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, TO RESTORE them again to repentance, because they are crucifying the Son of God all over again for themselves and subjecting Him to public disgrace.”
(Hebrews 6:4–6)
Hebrews 6 contains a very serious warning. It speaks of people who can no longer be renewed again—those who can no longer be brought back to repentance. These are individuals who have known Christ, experienced His work, and then knowingly and deliberately abandoned and rejected Him. In doing so, they are “crucifying the Son of God all over again”. This does not mean that Jesus is literally crucified again, but that they treat Christ’s sacrifice as though it has no value.
Furthermore, they “subject Him to public disgrace.” In other words, their lives become an unrighteous testimony. Those who witness their rejection may conclude that Christ is not worthy to be followed. Instead of bringing glory to God’s name, they bring dishonor to it.
This solemn warning is NOT directed at believers who are struggling or going through seasons of weakness. In fact, anyone who still desires to repent—even after falling into sin—demonstrates that the Holy Spirit is still at work in his or her heart. This passage speaks of a HEART THAT HAS BECOME SO HARDENED that it continually and deliberately rejects Christ, refusing to return to Him and choosing not to follow the Lord’s ways.
Therefore, never take God’s grace for granted. Do not delay repentance. Do not harden your heart when the Holy Spirit convicts you. Whenever God calls us back, the proper response is to humble ourselves, confess our sins, come again to the cross, and renew our commitment to live faithfully for Christ.
Reflection:
CHRIST’S CROSS WAS ACCOMPLISHED ONCE FOR ALL, BUT WE CAN EITHER HONOR HIS SACRIFICE OR DISHONOR IT BY THE WAY WE RESPOND TO HIM IN OUR DAILY LIVES.
Prayer:
Lord, touch my heart so that it will never become hardened. I confess and believe that forgiveness of sins and salvation are found only through the cross of Christ. Help me to repent quickly whenever I fall into sin, and to turn back to honor Your ways. Amen.
Bless you
