Daily Bread: The Humility and Love of Christ

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“For it was not to angels that He subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified:
‘What is man, that You are mindful of him,
or the son of man, that You care for him?
You made him FOR A LITTLE WHILE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS;
You crowned him with glory and honor
and put everything under his feet.’
In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him. But we do see Jesus, who FOR A LITTLE WHILE WAS MADE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.”
(Hebrews 2:5–9)

In His deity, Jesus is the eternal Son of God. Although He is infinitely higher than any angel, Jesus was made a little lower in His incarnation. This speaks of His humility in becoming man. Philippians 2:6–8 declares, “Jesus… emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness.”

For “a little while,” Jesus entered into the condition of mortal humanity — with this purpose: that He might taste death for everyone.

How marvelous is Christ’s love for mankind. Jesus did not merely observe human suffering from a far distance. He willingly entered into it — Jesus had tasted death for all people.

The death that should have been our punishment was borne by Jesus Christ on the cross, so that everyone who believes in Him may receive eternal life.

Give thanks that our salvation was redeemed by Jesus with His own life. Therefore, draw near and do not live far from the Lord who loves us so deeply.

I am very grateful the eyes of my heart behold Jesus, who by the grace of God tasted death for me, and my Lord has been crowned with glory and honor forever. Amen.

Bless you
