😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“TYCHICUS, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.”
(Ephesians 6:21-22 NIV)
In the closing section of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul mentions a name that may not be widely known: Tychicus. Yet from these two verses, we see HOW VALUABLE A FAITHFUL SERVANT TRULY IS.
Paul calls him “a beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord.” This is not an empty title. Tychicus was entrusted to bring news about Paul’s condition—likely while Paul was in prison. He was not merely a “message carrier,” but a bearer of encouragement.
Interestingly, Paul says that the purpose of sending Tychicus was not only to give information, but also to “ENCOURAGE YOU.” This shows that ministry is not just about delivering reports/news, but about strengthening the faith of others.
From this, we learn a few simple yet profound lessons:
**First, God uses those who are faithful, not only those who appear prominent.
Tychicus may not be as well-known as Paul, but without him, communication and encouragement for the church could have been hindered.
**Second, ministry reports matter.
When believers know what is happening in ministry, they can pray more specifically and feel involved. Even in difficult times, hearing that the gospel continues to advance becomes a source of encouragement.
**Third, each of us is called to be a “Tychicus” to others.
We may not preach before large crowds, but we can:
* share words that build up
* strengthen those who are weak
* become a bridge that brings peace
In a world full of discouraging news, God is looking for people who bring messages that strengthen the heart.
Prayer:
Lord, help me be a faithful servant like Tychicus.
Give me a caring heart, words that build up, and a life that can be trusted.
Use me to strengthen others, so that through my life, many may be encouraged and strengthened in You. Amen.
Bless you
