Daily Bread: Sing A New Song To The Lord

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.”
‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭96‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

What is meant by ‘new song’ is not necessarily a song that has just been written and popularized. The meaning of  ‘new song’ is related to the heart: a heart renewed by the Holy Spirit and grateful for the forgiveness of sins and salvation in faith in Jesus; A ‘new song’ is also a song that come from the heart out of the experience of living with God, song that changes our lives, song that raises hope. When the Israelites saw that the Lord helped them by defeating Egyptian armies, they expressed gratitude with singing a new song (Exidus 15).

Even if the song is an old song, if it is sung from a heart filled with gratitude, then it becomes a ‘new song’. From this song we can feel God’s powerful touch, so that we gain new strength and hope to live our lives.

Let’s sing and praise God from a grateful heart, a heart that believes in God’s goodness and faithfulness – “Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.” Amen.
