Daily Bread: A Call to Return to Christ

•

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“For if we SIN DELIBERATELY after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful judgment and fierce fire that will devour the ungodly.”
(Hebrews 10:26-27 ESV)

There is a big difference between “falling into sin” and “sinning deliberately.” The word translated “sin deliberately” refers to an act done with CONSCIOUSNESS and WILL—not just a sin of weakness or a momentary lapse—it is the act of someone who CHOOSES to live in REBELLION against God.

Like a baby learning to walk, a child of God can fall and even repeat mistakes. But the Holy Spirit continues to call, “Return to Me.”

The problem begins when the heart says, “I know this is wrong, but I still choose it.”

The sin that once made us cry begins to be tolerated. We ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit, we avoid the Word of God, until we not only fall into sin, but begin to make peace with sin.

That is the stern warning of Hebrews 10:26–27.

However, a few verses earlier we are actually called:
“Let us face God with sincere hearts…” (Heb. 10:22)
and “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope…” (Heb. 10:23).

So the message is not, “When you sin, flee from God,” but:
“Don’t abandon Christ. Don’t harden your heart. Keep coming to Him.”

If there is sin:
* Don’t justify it.
* Don’t hide it.
* Don’t blame others.
* If you fall, get up and return to Christ.
* If your heart begins to become hard, ask the Holy Spirit to soften it again.

“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 3:15)

Reflection:
Am I truly asking for God’s forgiveness, or am I beginning to justify the sin in my life?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, touch my heart so that it remains tender and receptive to the rebuke of God’s Spirit. Help me not to allow myself to become comfortable with sin or to take Your sacrifice on the cross for granted. Amen.

Bless you
