Daily Bread: Living Under the Better Covenant

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their MINDS and write them on their HEARTS. I will be THEIR GOD, and they will BE MY PEOPLE. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will ALL KNOW ME, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will FORGIVE their wickedness and will REMEMBER THEIR SINS NO MORE.” By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.”
‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭10‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Why Is the New Covenant Better?

The reason is not that the Law under the Old Covenant was bad. Rather, the Law was unable to transform the human heart or completely remove sin (Hebrews 7:18–19; 10:1–4).

The New Covenant provides what the Old Covenant could never provide:
* a new heart,
* the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in every believer,
* a personal relationship with the living God,
* complete forgiveness of sins,
* and the sure assurance of salvation through the finished work of Christ on the cross.

Therefore, living the Christian life is not about trying to earn God’s acceptance through good works. It is a grateful response to the grace we have already received through Jesus Christ. Every day we can come to Him with confidence, knowing that our sins truly have been forgiven, our hearts are being transformed, and the Holy Spirit continues to lead us to become more like Christ. Amen.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for the New Covenant established through Jesus Christ.
Thank You for giving me a new heart and the Holy Spirit to help me live according to Your ways. Continue to transform me from within, so that my life may reflect Your love, holiness, and grace to everyone around me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Bless you
