Daily Bread: Seated at the Right Hand of Majesty

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man.”
‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

After explaining that Jesus is a priest according to the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7), the author now summarizes the main purpose of Hebrews: we have a High Priest – Jesus Christ who is seated at the right hand of God.

Unlike the priests under the Old Covenant who stood daily offering repeated sacrifices (Hebrews 10:11), Jesus sat down because His sacrifice on the cross was complete and sufficient forever (Hebrews 10:12) – Jesus’ seated position signifies victory, authority, and the finished work of redemption.

Because He ministers in the true heavenly sanctuary, we can come boldly into God’s presence. We do not approach God because we are worthy—we come because Jesus is worthy.

Reflection:
* Am I relying on my own efforts to gain God’s acceptance, or am I resting in Christ’s finished work?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Jesus, our perfect and eternal High Priest. Thank You that His sacrifice is complete and that He now intercedes for us in Your presence. Help us to rest in Christ’s finished work instead of trusting in our own strength. Give us confidence to come boldly before Your throne to receive mercy and grace in every time of need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Bless you
