Daily Bread: God Hears the Prayers of the Faithful

God’s word today:

“During the days of HIS EARTHLY LIFE, Jesus offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who was able to save Him from death, and because of His reverent submission He was heard. Although He was a Son, He LEARNED OBEDIENCE FROM WHAT HE SUFFERED, and once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him.”
(Hebrews 5:7–9)

Jesus, the Son of God, truly became fully a human being. The writer of Hebrews tells us that Jesus experienced the full reality of human limitations—yet without sin. He offered prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the Father. This reminds us of His struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane. There, Jesus felt the overwhelming weight of suffering, yet He still came before the Father in prayer.

God’s Word also says that Jesus learned obedience through what He suffered. Through His suffering, His obedience was perfectly demonstrated in His experience as a man. He chose the Father’s will over His own comfort, even to the point of death on the cross.

When we face suffering, unanswered prayers, or overwhelming struggles, we have a Great High Priest who understands our tears. Jesus teaches us that victory does not always mean escaping suffering; rather, it means remaining faithful and obedient to the Father in the midst of it. God hears the prayers of His children, and through every season of testing, He is shaping us to become more like Christ.

Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, thank You for truly understanding our struggles. You wept, prayed, suffered, and remained obedient to the Father’s will. Teach us not to give up when we face trials, but to keep trusting that the Father hears every one of our prayers. Shape our hearts to become more obedient and more like Christ, until we experience the victory You have prepared for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
