Daily Bread: An Opportunity to Trust and Obey

God’s word today:

‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
“Therefore since it still remains for some to enter that rest, and since those who formerly had the good news proclaimed to them did not go in because of their disobedience, God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: “TODAY, IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEART.””

Above verse is a statement of loving warning and an urgent invitation from God.

The Israelites who left slavery in Egypt heard God’s voice, saw His miracles, and witnessed His faithfulness. Yet many of them hardened their hearts through unbelief, complaining, and disobedience. As a result, they failed to enter God’s rest.

When Hebrews says, “Today”, it emphasizes that God’s invitation is still open right now. God is speaking, and every person must respond. The issue is not whether God has spoken, but whether we are willing to listen (to hear) and trust Him.

“Today”, God is still speaking through His Word. Every “today” is an opportunity to believe Him, surrender to Him, and enter the rest He promises. Do not delay, nor resist, nor ignore His voice. A heart that remains tender before God will find the peace, joy, and rest that come from trusting Him.

Prayer:
O Lord, give me a heart that is willing to hear Your voice. Remove every hardness, unbelief, and resistance within me. Help me to trust Your Word, obey Your leading, and enter the rest You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
