😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”
(Ephesians 6:16-17 NKJV
Ephesians 6:16–17 continues Paul’s picture of the “armor of God”: the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Interestingly, the word of God is not only described as the “sword of the Spirit” (a weapon for attack), but it also functions as the “shield of faith” in every situation (a tool for defense).
The relationship between the Word and the shield of faith: just as faith does not stand on its own, the shield of faith is built, directed, and strengthened by the word of God.
Romans 10:17 says: “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
The shield does not lift itself automatically—we are the ones who must raise it. That means we must consciously use it—by returning to God’s Word and choosing to believe, even when our feelings say otherwise.
In life, we cannot avoid the “fiery arrows” flying at us. There will always be days when our minds are attacked, our hearts are shaken, and circumstances feel heavy. The issue is not whether the arrows will come, but whether we are ready with the shield of faith when they do.
So when the “fiery arrows” come:
* fear → remember the Word says: “I am with you”
* worry → remember the Word says: “Cast all your anxiety on Him”
* accusation → remember the Word says: “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ”
Perhaps today there is an “arrow” already flying toward your life: arrows of anxiety about the future, arrows of life’s pressures, or arrows of voices that weaken your faith. Don’t try to withstand them with your own strength.
Lift up your shield of faith—recall God’s promises, hold on to His Word, and trust that He is faithful.
Because in the end, victory is not determined by the intensity of the attack, but by the firmness of a faith that stands on the Word of God.
Bless you
