😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
Next week we will have a remembrance of Passover, and we will look at some of the things Jesus did as the days of Passover approached.
“JESUS ENTERED THE TEMPLE courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’” The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.”
(Matthew 21:12-14 NIV)
When Jesus entered the temple in Jerusalem, He saw something that grieved His heart. The place that was meant to be a house of prayer had become a place of business, noise, and religious activity without true devotion to God.
PEOPLE WERE STILL COMING TO THE TEMPLE, BUT MANY HAD LOST THE HEART OF WORSHIP.
Jesus then cleansed the temple and said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” (Matthew 21:13)
This shows us something very important about God. God is not only concerned about religious activity — He desires a sincere relationship with His people.
WORSHIP IS NOT MEANT TO BE EMPTY ROUTINE, BUT A LIVING COMMUNION WITH HIM.
Today, the Bible tells us that believers are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). This means our lives are meant to be a place where God is honored, where prayer is real, and where our hearts are fully devoted to Him. Sometimes, like the temple in Jesus’ time, our hearts can become filled with distractions, busyness, or self-satisfaction. The good news is that Jesus still lovingly cleanses and restores us when we come to Him.
After Jesus cleansed the temple, the blind and the lame came to Him, and He healed them (Matthew 21:14). This reminds us that when our lives are centered on God again, His grace, healing, and presence move freely among us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, please cleanse my heart and make my life a house of prayer. Remove anything that keeps me from loving You fully. Teach me to worship You sincerely and walk closely with You each day. Amen.
Bless you
