Daily Bread: Growing Together into the Fullness of Christ

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“And He gave apostles and prophets, evangelists and pastors and teachers, TO EQUIP THE SAINTS FOR THE WORK OF MINISTRY, FOR BUILDING THE BODY OF CHRIST, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:11-13 ESV)

In this passage, Paul explains that when Christ ascended into heaven, He did not leave His church without direction and help. He provided spiritual leadership: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. This means that spiritual leadership in the church is not a human idea, but God’s plan. However, the primary goal is not for these leaders to be the center of attention, like celebrities. Verse 12 emphasizes the purpose: “To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”

It is God’s will that every saint (every believer in Christ) be equipped for service.

The church is not a building. The church is the body of Christ. And every member of His body has a role. If today we feel small or insignificant, remember: Christ, who ascended into heaven, continues to work through His body on earth. And we are an important part of the body of Christ.

May we not only be a congregation that attends weekly service, but a congregation that grows, functions, and serves in the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ. Amen.

Bless you
