Daily Bread: From Far and Near – United in Christ

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near,
for through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
(Ephesians 2:17–18)

Both the Jews (“those who were near”) and the Gentiles (“those who were far away”) equally had no direct access to the Father because of sin. Therefore, humanity’s main problem is not merely differences of ethnicity, culture, or religion, but spiritual separation from God.

God’s Word declares that through Jesus Christ we have access to the Father. This is a beautiful truth that strengthens our faith. God’s love did not allow humanity to remain separated. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus opened a way that had previously been closed. The cross of Christ tore down the dividing wall, removed hostility, and restored our relationship with God. Because of this, we do not come to God as strangers or fearful servants, but as children who come to their Father.

This passage also affirms that this access takes place in one Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the One who leads us in prayer, gives us boldness to come before God, and unites all believers. In Christ, there is no difference in status—all have equal access to the Father.

The door to “meeting God” is open, the way is available, and the Father lovingly awaits His children. Have we been using this privilege—coming to our Father God with faith and full confidence—and living as peacemakers among others?

Bless you
