God’s word today:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…” — Ephesians 1:3
When Paul begins his letter with these words, he is calling us to worship. He is reminding us that God is worthy of all praise. The phrase “Blessed be God” means:
*Praise, honor and glory belong to God.
*God alone is worthy to be praised
Why He alone is worthy of all praise? Because God is THE SOURCE of every blessing we have—especially the blessings we receive through Jesus Christ.
Paul continues writing, “who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing.” This means that in Jesus, God has already given us everything we need spiritually—forgiveness, salvation, acceptance, peace, hope, and eternal life.
We don’t praise God to earn blessing—we praise Him because HE HAS ALREADY BLESSED US.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who HAS BLESSED us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,”
(Ephesians 1:3 NKJV)
O Lord, thank You for blessing me through Jesus Christ. Help and daily guide me, Your child, so that I will always be grateful and remember that You are the source of all blessings in my life. Amen.
