😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.”
(Ephesians 2:14-16 NIV)
Since humanity fell into sin, hostility has arisen everywhere. Human beings were separated from God, and as a result, they also became distant from one another—hurting each other and living in enmity. Walls of division were built between ethnic groups, social classes, and even within families and our closest relationships.
However, God’s Word affirms that Jesus came to tear down the walls of hostility. Through the cross, He destroyed enmity and created “one new humanity” in Himself. The cross became the place where hatred was broken down, sins were forgiven, and peace was restored.
The peace that Jesus gives is not merely the absence of conflict, but true peace—peace that restores our relationship with God and with one another. This peace is able to reach across differences of ethnicity, background, character, and deep inner wounds. Even in broken families or strained relationships, Jesus is still able to bring His peace.
This reflection invites us to ask:
Are there still walls of division in our hearts?
Is there any hatred, bitterness, or wound that we have not yet surrendered to Christ?
Let us come to Jesus, our Peace. May He tear down the “walls of hostility” in our lives and make us instruments of His peace—in our families, in the church, and in the world. For in Christ, hostility ends and true peace begins. Amen.
Bless you
