Daily Bread: Walking Wisely in Evil Days

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
‭‭(Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Ephesians 5:14–16 is a very firm yet loving call: to awaken and live with awareness, making the most of our time in the midst of a dark world—“BECAUSE THE DAYS ARE EVIL.”

What are “evil days”?
This is not just about a specific period of time, but it describes an age influenced by sin:
•What is right is being twisted—falsehood is widespread, especially on social media.
•Temptation is becoming more subtle—it can enter through our gadgets, even within our own homes.
•Technology is advancing, yet many things consume our attention, often drawing us away from God.

Living in these “evil days,” the greatest danger is not always suffering and persecution, but spiritual negligence—living without direction and without depth in our relationship with God. That is why Paul says “redeeming the time”—use every opportunity for what has eternal value:
•A life of worship, drawing near to God
•In family, career, and business, learning to live in obedience to His Word
•Waking up each day with the awareness: “Lord, today belongs to You.”
•Asking the Holy Spirit to rekindle a heart that may have grown cold.

For this calling is not about becoming strong through our own efforts, but about opening our lives so that the light of Christ may truly shine through us.

O Lord, awaken my heart from every form of spiritual negligence. Teach me to live wisely in these evil days, so that the light of Christ may be evident in every step I take. Amen.

Bless you
