Daily Bread: The Calling to a Holy Life

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for SAINTS; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.”
(‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

THE CALL TO LIVE DIFFERENTLY

Everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus has been appointed by the living God to be part of His people, that is, called to be saints. Therefore, in Ephesians 5:3–7, the apostle Paul also reminds them that their lives are called to be different from the way the world lives. Because of this, our lives as God’s people should reflect that calling.

First, do not take part in sinful practices.
As God’s people, we are called not to be involved in things that do not please Him. Our lives’ actions and words should show that we have been set apart for the Lord.

Second, do not let yourselves be deceived.
The world often makes sin appear normal or harmless. Therefore, we must remain watchful and hold firmly to the truth of God’s Word so that we will not be misled.

Third, live with thanksgiving.
Paul reminds us that the life of a believer should be marked by a grateful heart for God’s love and grace.

When we turn away from sin, remain alert against deception, and maintain a heart full of thanksgiving, our lives will increasingly reflect that we belong to God.

O Lord, thank You for calling us to be Your people. Help us to live holy lives, guard us from deception, and fill our hearts with thanksgiving each day. Amen.

Bless you
