😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope…”
(Ephesians 1:16-21 NIV)
From the passage in Ephesians 1:16–21, there are three main prayer points of Paul for the church. After Paul heard about the faith and love of the believers in Ephesus, he did not stop giving thanks and praying for them. Interestingly, Paul did not primarily pray that their physical circumstances would change (such as economy, healing, etc.), but that their spiritual perspective would be renewed. He mentions three important things that he asks for—three prayer points that are highly relevant for God’s people in every generation.
1. The Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to Know God truly (v. 17)
Apostle Paul prays that God would give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation. This is not merely intellectual knowledge, but spiritual understanding that enables believers to know God more personally.
WISDOM from God helps us know how to live rightly, and REVELATION from God opens truths that were previously hidden. Without both, faith can become dry and shallow.
Therefore, ask the Lord not only to increase our knowledge of Scripture, but also personally to sharpen our knowledge of the Lord Jesus, the true God, so that we may understand His will.
Prayer:
O Lord, the living and true God, grant me Your Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that I may know You more deeply. Amen.
Bless you
