😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the saints at Ephesus, believers in Christ Jesus. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
(Ephesians 1:1-2 ESV)
Because of human tradition and teachings, some people think that being a “saint” is only for great people (or special Christians), who perform miracles and live with an extraordinary level of holiness, or that someone is only called a “saint” after death because they have done much good in society.
However, this is the truth of the Bible, which teaches something different from tradition and human thinking about who a saint is.
In Ephesians 1:1–2, Paul writes to “THE SAINTS IN Ephesus,” that is, Christians who are still alive, not any particular special individual. Paul uses the word “saint” many times (Ephesians 1:1, 18; 2:19; 3:8, 18; 4:12; 5:3; 6:18), and each time the term refers to ALL ORDINARY BELIEVERS, that is, those who have faith in the Lord Jesus.
So, according to the Bible, a saint is not a title derived from good works, miracles, or human effort—but rather the identity of “saint” that God gives to every believer in Jesus, because the Blood of Jesus sanctifies them.
You, yes you! are a saint—not because of what you have done, but because of what Jesus has done for you.
Thank God, and I believe I am a saint because of my faith in Jesus, the Son of God, as God’s Word declares. Amen.
Bless you
