😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“And the devil took him up into a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and said to him, “ALL THESE I WILL GIVE YOU, if you will fall down and worship me.””
(Matthew 4:8-9 NKJV)
In the next temptation, the devil offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their glory—if Jesus would worship him. This was a powerful temptation in the material realm and also a temptation to take ‘a shortcut’ to glory without obedience to God’s true way.
But Jesus answered firmly:
“Get thee hence, Satan! … You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.” (verse 10)
From here we learn a very important lesson:
The enemy often offers a “quick way” to wealth and glory. The devil does not always come with a terrifying threat; often he comes with an offer that looks profitable, attractive, and logical. He offers glory without the process of obedience.
But any offer that would take us away from God’s will is not a blessing, but a snare.
Jesus set an example for us not to compromise. Instead, we must
directly reject the temptation with the written Word.
Who and what is trying to take place in our lives: is it God and the things of God’s kingdom or ambition, wealth, oneself?
O Lord, teach me and enable Your servant to recognize the potential traps of the devil and to be alert and reject every offer that will take me away from Your way. Strengthen my heart so that only You are the one I worship and obey. Amen.
Bless you
