😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’””
(Matthew 4:5-7 NIV)
The devil took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple—the highest and most visible position.
The essence of the devil’s words was, “Prove that you are the Son of God,” by quoting Psalm 91.
Important lessons here:
•The devil can quote Scripture too!
•The devil cannot stop Jesus from believing the Word in the Scriptures; he only twists the Word to try to force Jesus to act outside the Father’s will.
•Not every verse that is spoken is spoken by someone with the right motive or right meaning.
•The devil sometimes uses “partial truth/half-truths” (statements “sound good”, that sound somewhat true) to lead us into making wrong decisions.
Beware:
* don’t make a decision simply because a verse seems right in your mind; pay attention to the context of the verse and the motives of your heart.
*In this world, there are many statements that sound sweet, good, and have some truth to them, but all must be filtered by the true doctrine of the sound teachings in the Bible.
Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name I ask You to grant me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to truly know the Son of God, and to enlighten the eyes of my heart, so that I may understand the hope in the Lord Jesus and correctly understand Your Word. Amen.
Bless you
