😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
Of course we remember the parable of Lazarus and the rich man who died, and at the end of this story, the man begged:
“for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ “ ‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ””
(Luke 16:28-31 NIV)
The rich man asked Abraham to send Lazarus to his house: “so that his five brothers who were still alive on earth would repent.”
This means that man considered “miracles”—”the return of the dead”—more effective than the Word. He was very wrong.
Abraham said: “If they do NOT HEAR the Word, they will NOT BE CONVINCED even if there is a miracle of resurrection.”
Jesus spoke directly about the hardness of human hearts: A hardened heart will not be changed by simply seeing or knowing miracles. A heart that rejects the Word will in the end also reject miracles. A heart that ignores the Bible will ignore supernatural signs.
The historical evidence: Jesus himself rose from the dead, but:
*The Pharisees continued to reject,
*The chief priests continued to harden their hearts,
*Many people see the evidence of the resurrection but do not repent.
I believe the Bible is the Word of God that leads my life to true repentance and eternal salvation. I need God’s Word every day for my life’s journey. Amen.
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’””
(Matthew 4:4 NIV)
Bless you
