Daily Bread: A Cheerful Heart, A Grateful Offering

God’s word today:

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
‭‭(2 Corinthians‬ ‭9‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER

As christians or one born in a christian family, giving thankgiving offerings and offerings of tithes in the church as part of our worship to God generally have been known, and by grace we obey it. But to continue doing these offerings with CHEERFUL ATTITUDE christians need to grow in understanding of what Jesus had done on the cross, giving God’s forgiveness for us. Only God who can give forgiveness of sins, nothing else.

In the gospel of Luke there is a story of Jesus anointed by a sinful woman (chapter 7:36-50).
The woman in this story knew that she was a sinner. At that time general society in Israel didnʼt accept people they considered to be terrible sinners. This woman too been rejected but she had met Jesus and received God’s forgiveness of sins, and she knew well that only God who can forgive her many many sins , therefore she was very grateful and thankful. She showed Jesus how much she loved him by honouring him in a special way. She cleaned his feet with her tears, her hair and her kisses. Then she covered Jesusʼ feet with a perfume that cost a lot of money as a way for her to worship Jesus. She offered this costly perfume joyfully.

Do we understand well that we also need Godʼs love and forgiveness? Do we understand well that only God can forgive our sins?

Since we have received God’s forgiveness of sins and grace, may we do our offerings in the church with cheerful heart. Let we do every activities in daily life with grateful attitude.
