Daily Bread: When The Storm Rages, Jesus Speaks Peace

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a FIERCE STORM came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?””
‭‭(Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭35‬-‭40‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Jesus’ disciples probably imagined the journey across the lake with Him to be a pleasant and comfortable one. They certainly didn’t imagine it would be so difficult, “the Lord is with us, nothing would happen”. But what happened? A FIERCE STORM CAME UP.

This story illustrates the journey of a Christian: it’s not always smooth sailing without obstacles; even though God is truly with us, always with His people. Life in this world can be “a fierce storm,” meaning problems can arise anytime. But trust that God’s love never changes. The disciples survived the raging storm because they woke Jesus, who was sleeping in the stern, and asked Him for help.

Let’s declare:
“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Amen.
‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Bless you
