😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
(John 10:11 NIV)
In this powerful verse, from His own mouth, Jesus identifies Himself as the “GOOD Shepherd.” This title has deep significance in biblical times. A shepherd is someone who guides, protects, and cares for their sheep. In this metaphor, we are the sheep, and Jesus is emphasizing His role as our protector and guide. He doesn’t just care for us casually; He lays down His life for us – “The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
This shows the extreme lengths He is willing to go for our well-being. The statement exemplifies unconditional love, sacrifice, and the depth of Jesus’ commitment to His followers. It sets a foundation for understanding Jesus’ relationship with humanity and His passion for protecting us from harm.
Therefore, if we were sheep that knew the shepherd’s voice and chose to follow, then we would experience His protection and guidance.
Let’s believe and confess that Jesus is our good Shepherd. And may we experience His goodness as promised in Psalm 23.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Amen.
Bless you
