Daily Bread: Where Is Your Faith?

Firman Allah hari ini:

“Di tengah perjalanan Ia berbaring untuk tidur sebentar. Ketika Ia sedang tidur, angin mulai bertiup dengan kencangnya. Badai mengamuk dengan hebatnya, sehingga mereka berada dalam bahaya. Murid-murid datang kepada Yesus dan membangunkan Dia. “Guru, Guru, kita hampir tenggelam!” seru mereka. Yesus bangun, lalu berkata kepada badai itu, “Teduhlah!” Angin dan gelombang pun reda dan keadaan menjadi tenang kembali. Kemudian Ia bertanya kepada mereka, “Di manakah iman kalian?” Mereka dipenuhi rasa gentar serta takut akan Dia dan bertanya-tanya satu sama lain, “SIAPAKAH SEBENARNYA ORANG INI, sehingga ANGIN DAN GELOMBANG PUN TAAT kepada-Nya?””

Yesus sedang berada di tengah danau Galilea bersama murid-murid-Nya ketika badai datang, mengancam akan menenggelamkan perahu. Beberapa murid-Nya adalah nelayan yang telah menghabiskan masa dewasanya dengan memancing di danau Galilea, telah melalui beberapa badai di masa lalu, namun badai kali ini begitu dahsyat bahkan membuat mereka begitu takut – “Guru, Guru, kita hampir tenggelam!” Kemudian Yesus menghardik angin dan air yang mengamuk itu; badai pun reda dan SEMUANYA MENJADI TENANG.

Ini adalah contoh kuasa Yesus atas alam. Ini berbicara tentang Yesus yang berkuasa mengendalikan semua keadaan.

Pertanyaan yang diajukan para murid di akhir peristiwa ini menarik, “Siapakah sebenarnya Orang ini?”. Saat itu mereka telah bersama Yesus setiap hari mungkin sekitar satu tahun. Jika ada yang tahu siapa Dia, itu seharusnya kedua belas murid ini, bukan? Karena mereka juga telah melihat mukjizat demi mukjizat. Namun, entah bagaimana mereka secara tidak sadar telah menempatkan Yesus dalam sebuah ‘kotak’ dan ketika Yesus melangkah keluar dari batasan yang mereka bayangkan sebelumnya, mereka menyadari bahwa mereka masih belum mengenal-Nya.

Semoga pengalaman kita bersama Yesus sejauh ini tidak menempatkan-Nya dalam “kotak pikiran kita”. Yesus lebih luar biasa daripada yang kita bayangkan. Tuhan dapat mengatasi badai apa pun yang menghadang kita. Dia adalah Anak Allah yang Mahakuasa!

Yesus, aku percaya Engkau adalah Allah yang hidup yang berkuasa mengendalikan semua keadaan hidupku. Amin.

God’s word today:

“As they sailed he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “WHO IS THIS? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.””
‭‭(Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

Jesus was in the middle of the lake of Galilee with His disciples when a storm came up, threatening to sink the boat. Some of the disciples were fishermen who had spent their adult lives fishing on the lake of Galilee, been through some storms in the past, yet this particular storm was so fierce even cause them so frightened – “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” Then Jesus “rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and ALL WAS CALM.”

This is an example of Jesus’ power over the nature. It speaks that Jesus is in control over all circumstances.

The question the disciples ask at the end of this scene is interesting, “Who is this?”. By this time they had already been with Jesus everyday probably about one year. If anyone knew who He was it was these twelve disciples, right? For they also had seen miracle upon miracle. Still, somehow they had unconsciously placed Jesus in a ‘box’ and when Jesus stepped out of their preconceived limits they realized that they still didn’t know about Him.

May our experiences with Jesus this far not putting Him in a “box of our thought”. Jesus is more wonderful than we have imagined Him to be. The Lord can handle any storm that comes our way. He is the Almighty Son of the living God!

Jesus, I believe You are the living God who is in control over all my circumstances. Amin.
