Daily Bread: Knowing Jesus As God, Not Just A Teacher

😇 Shalom to all.
God’s word today:

“As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.”
‭‭(Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

It is recorded that a man came and asked Jesus with first statement: “GOOD TEACHER”, then Jesus’ answer interestingly with a question also: “WHY DO YOU CALL ME GOOD”. Note: Jesus’ answer to that man’s statement was to determine what his motivation was: whether he knew ‘Jesus was good because of His works were good: healings, casting out demons, etc.’ or ‘Jesus was good because He was God’.

Jesus wanted to bring the person to the knowledge of the truth ‘Who Jesus is’. Knowing Jesus not only limited to the good works that Jesus had done, but to believe and know that He is the living God, the true God, the good God; for “No one is good—except God alone.”

I am grateful to be able to believe and know the person of Jesus, not only because of His good works, but Jesus is the Lord God who is all-good. Amen.
